Transport, Infrastructure & Tourism'My core vision: A world-class Chifley - an economic powerhouse for NSW and Australia’

Transportation, Infrastructure & Tourism

For Chifley to become a world-class vibrant community, immense focus needs to be put onto its transport, infrastructure and tourism sectors.

The infrastructure of Chifley is our sustainable lifeblood and can not be understated in its importance to our future.

I will be supporting the Federal Government’s proposed use of the Richmond RAAF airbase as a second airport, but will call for fast-tracking of a budget airline carrier to operate domestic flights from there. Sydney Airport is now too busy and too far for people of Western Sydney to use as a viable regular gateway.

I would push for the fast-tracking of the full development of the ‘Werrington Arterial’ project.

In addition, I will introduce a new T-Way directly linking Erskine Business Park, St Clair, Minchinbury industrial, and Marsden Business Park, along with Mt Druitt train station and the proposed Marsden Park train station (end of North-West Rail Link).

In the interest of comfort and amenity of rail commuters, I will work with local and state governments and instigate:
  • Commercialisation and major upgrade of Mt Druitt train station

  • Additional commuter parking and lifts at Rooty Hill and Doonside train stations

  • Overhead pedestrian bridges at Mt Druitt and Doonside

I support the M9 Freeway and WestConnex projects as a motorway priority for our area which will open up choked road arteries and become a catalyst for much needed urban renewal to some areas and strengthen local business.

Finally, I would like to introduce a major tourism and recreational project that may hold international significance and contribute to the growth of our great electorate, increase jobs, boost our economy and bring much needed tourists into our area.

Ammar Khan,
Candidate for Chifley
